Lille’s Alan Virginius targeted by Young Boys

Set as surplus to requirements at Lille OSC, Alan Virginius (21) is gathering interest from Switzerland outfit Young Boys Berne, who could send a first proposal to the North side, according to Foot Mercato.

Arriving from Sochaux on a €4M deal in the summer of 22, Virginius failed to live up to expectations at Lille. The winger took part in 23 games across all competitions since his arrival, logging only one goal. Looking for more game time in order to regain some confidence, Virginius was loaned out to Clermont despite multiple offers from Sunderland and already an intensive interest from Young Boys back then. Despite logging two assists in 14 games, he couldn’t prevent the club from being relegated to Ligue 2. Called up by Landry Chauvin in June to compete with France U20 at the Tournoi Maurice Revello, Virginius impressed, notably scoring the only goal of a crucial win against South Korea. A performance that seems to have attracted interest from around Europe. After Freiburg, Virginius is now targeted by Switzerland champions’ Berne.

According to Foot Mercato, Young Boys are desperate to sign Virginius and have made the 21-year-old winger their top priorities. The Switzerland outfit is facing massive sporting issues in the last few weeks, as they were defeated in their first three league games. The French outlet reveals that Young Boys are set to send an opening bid to Les Dogues for the France U20 international.
