L’Équipe report this afternoon that Lille are looking to bring in another striker before the end of the transfer window on Friday, namely former Toulouse and Bordeaux forward Martin Braithwaite.
Les Dogues, who had ostensibly been in the race to sign Joaquín Correa from Inter before the Argentine moved to Marseille instead, look set to see Mohamed Bayo leave the club just one season after his arrival. The former Clermont man has attracted interest from the two promoted sides, Metz and Le Havre.
The club has now launched discussions with Espanyol in order to sign Braithwaite. The Danish international scored ten goals in La Liga last season for the Catalans, who were eventually relegated. Before that, he had scored the same amount of goals across three seasons with local rivals Barcelona. Between his spells at Toulouse and Bordeaux, he also spent time in England, at Middlesbrough. Lille have drawn up a shortlist of other targets, and are notably also keeping an eye on Spartak Moscow’s Keita Baldé, formerly of Monaco.
