Ligue 1 Results, Round 3
Paris Saint-Germain picked up their first win of the season against last season’s second-placed side RC Lens. AS Monaco meanwhile remain top after an entertaining draw against FC Nantes
Monaco were led by two goals on two occasions against Nantes, who were looking for their first point of the season. Despite Monaco’s dominance, they were ultimately held to a draw, with Adi Hütter’s side reliant on a late Myron Boadu equaliser at La Beaujoire.
Whilst Monaco are top on goal difference, Marseille have joined them on seven points. Marcelino’s men didn’t have things all their own way against Brest but took the three points thanks to goals from Chancel Mbemba and Ismaila Sarr.
Luis Enrique picked up his first win as PSG manager. After two draws, the reigning champions took their first three points of the season thanks to a goal from Marco Asensio, and a double from Kylian Mbappé.
Rennes looked comfortable. 2-0 up before 25 minutes, Bruno Genesio’s side were cruising. However, before te break, Nabil Alioui halved the deficit, and despite being down to 10 men, Le Havre levelled through a sumptuous strike from the former AS Monaco man.
Georges Mikautadze got the winner in what could be his final game for the club, whilst Clermont Foot are the only side not to have picked up a point in their first three games.
Emanuel Emegha got his first goal for the club, whilst Jean-Ricner Bellegarde continued his fine run of form by netting a second for Patrick Vieira’s side. A good result for Strasbourg given their performance at Monaco a week earlier.
A Teddy Teuma double gave Will Still’s side back-to-back victories. Under the Anglo-Belgian manager, the Champagne club continue to progress.
The surprise of the weekend. Paulo Fonseca’s Lille were dismantled by Lorient, who outplayed their supposedly superior opponent. Jonathan David salvaged a consolation, but Régis Le Bris’ side looked comfortable.
Not the most entertaining match to see out the gameweek. Nice-Lyon was starved of chances, with neither side deserving the three points. Nice remain unbeaten, whilst Lyon collect their first point of the season.
