Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 sides have, like every year, had their academies ranked. Stade Rennais, for the third consecutive season, top the standings.
The standings, released by the FFF, are based on five criteria: professionalism, game time afforded to academy products, national team call-ups given to players from the academy, schooling within the academy, and representation of players from the academy across Europe.
Rennes once again top the list. The Breton club is renowned for its production of top-class talents, with former academy players Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé notably having excellent seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, whilst Kader Meïté and Jérémy Jacquet also made their breakthrough into the first team at Rennes this season.
PSG, who are now prioritising integrating their prospects into the first team, come second in the ranking, just above AS Monaco, one of the most renowned academies in France. Olympique Lyonnais an Toulouse FC round out the top five. Olympique de Marseille only ranks 15th out of the 18 Ligue 1 clubs.
AC Ajaccio ranks as the best academy in Ligue 2, whilst FC Sochaux-Montbéliard are the best academy in the National.
