Barcelona 9-1 Levante Las Planas

Barcelona got the new year up and running with a dominant display at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. Salma Paralluelo tapped in a fifth-minute opener, before Mariona Caldentey slotted home from the penalty spot. Aitana Bonmatí and Caroline Graham Hansen then grabbed a goal apiece to give Barça a four-goal lead at the break. The hosts continued their onslaught after the restart as Clàudia Pina and Patri Guijarro both found the net to pile the misery on their opponents.

The visitors finally had something to cheer when Allegra Poljak dispossessed Ingrid Engen before finding the bottom corner. It proved to be a brief moment of respite, before Vicky López, Patri and Asisat Oshoala scored late on to beat Levante Las Planas by an eight-goal margin.

Villarreal 0-5 Levante

Like Barcelona, Levante celebrated a commanding victory in their first outing of the new year. The visitors took the lead in the 25th minute courtesy of a Paola Soldevila own goal. World Cup winner Alba Redondo then fired past Elena de Toro Aldaria to double Levante’s advantage before the half-time break.

Colombian forward Mayra Ramírez got in on the act in the second period, as she netted a quick-fire brace to put the game beyond doubt. There was still plenty of time left for Redondo to score her second goal of the game and round off a comfortable win.

Real Sociedad 3-3 Costa Adeje Tenerife

Tenerife staged a fightback to snatch a point from their away meeting with Real Sociedad. It was the hosts who landed the first blow as Sanni Franssi required just 20 minutes to break the deadlock. Gift Monday headed Tenerife level, before Synne Jensen thumped an unstoppable strike into the top corner to restore Real Sociedad’s lead.

The hosts looked to be on course to claim maximum points when Franssi sealed her hat-trick within 10 minutes of the restart. However, Belgium international Jassina Blom pulled a goal back to give the visitors a semblance of hope. Their search for an equaliser ultimately paid dividends in the fifth minute of stoppage time when María José Pérez nodded in from close range.

Athletic Club 2-0 Eibar

Nahikari García started 2024 on a positive note, scoring a 12th minute opener in Athletic’s home meeting against fellow Basque side Eibar.

The hosts held on to their narrow lead until stoppage time when Jone Amezaga netted her second goal of the Liga F season to make sure of their first three points of 2024. The 19-year-old spun away from her defender, before driving into the box and drilling the ball past María Miralles.

Valencia 1-6 Atlético Madrid

Although Pauleta gave Valencia the lead in the early stages, the hosts ultimately fell to a heavy defeat against Atlético. Sheila Guijarro quickly pulled her side level, before adding two more goals to her tally to wrap up a sensational 12-minute hat-trick.

Not content with her efforts, Guijarro added a fourth before half time, heading the ball in from Leicy Santos’ hooked pass. Eva Navarro showcased her technical quality to guide a dropping ball past Antonia Canales within 15 minutes of the restart. Gabriela García then went on to score her first goal for the club to round off a successful outing.

Real Betis 2-3 Granada

Granada ended a run of 11 consecutive league defeats to claim their first win since the opening day of the season. Ornella Vignola headed in from Naima García’s cross to put the Andalusian side in front. Betis hit back through Tiffany Cameron, who pounced on the rebound to poke the ball home.

With the contest level at the break, Vigonola netted her second goal to restore Granada’s slender advantage on the hour mark. Once again, the hosts found an equaliser, as Dorine Chuigoué fired into the bottom corner to register her first goal of the season.

While the contest looked destined to finish level, there proved to be one final twist when Granada were awarded a penalty in stoppage time. Despite seeing her spot-kick saved, Carlota Suárez tucked home the rebound to clinch all three points.

Real Madrid 2-1 Madrid CFF

Sunday’s contest between the two Madrid sides was goalless until the match broke into life in stoppage time. Madrid CFF substitute Cristina Libran thought she had won the game when she thumped the ball into the roof of the net in the 91st minute. However, the hosts staged a dramatic turnaround, beginning with an Ivana Andrés header.

Caroline Møller then nodded in a crucial winner to spark scenes of jubilation at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. The result leaves Real Madrid in third position, while their opponents are three points further back in fifth place.

Sporting de Huelva 1-3 Sevilla

Huelva are still searching for their first Liga F win of the season, after they began 2024 with a defeat. Sevilla’s Cristina Martín-Prieto found the net in the 36th minute, before the hosts produced an immediate response courtesy of Miku Kojima’s first Liga F goal. Klára Cahynová towered high from a corner to head Sevilla back into the lead in the opening stages of the second half.

Martín-Prieto went on to find the net in stoppage time to seal her brace and wrap up a third consecutive away victory.
