However, he has now been moved to Gareth Southgate's squad ahead of Tuesday's friendly with Belgium at Wembley.

He comes in for City team-mate Walker, who was substituted in the 20th minute of Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Brazil.

Walker will now return to City for assessment ahead of the return of club football with our clash against Arsenal on Sunday 31 March.

Lewis made his senior England debut back in November when he started the 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.

Our Academy graduate will now report to Tottenham Hotspur's training ground on Monday and be hoping to add to his only cap so far.

Former City goalkeeper James Trafford, now at Burnley, has also received his first senior call up.

As well as Walker, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire have both withdrawn from the England squad.
