Having unlocked the deal to sign Raphinha from Leeds United, Barcelona will now look to get the transfer of Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski sorted at the earliest.

The 33-year-old is in the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena and the Blaugrana have made him their top transfer target for the summer window.

Barcelona have already made three bids to secure the signing of Lewandowski, with the latest one being in the range of €40 million fixed amount plus add-ons. However, Bayern Munich have knocked back the Blaugrana’s latest proposal as well.

It has been since claimed that Bayern Munich are looking for a fixed fee of €50 million for their ace goalscorer, even though their public stance on the matter is that the Poland captain is not for sale.

However, Barcelona believe that they can get the deal over the line for the current €40 million fixed fee offer.

This claim comes from Relevo, who state that the Catalans had been promised by Lewandowski’s agents that they can get the striker out of the Allianz Arena if the Blaugrana shelled out a fee of €40 million.

Having done so with their latest offer, Barcelona believe that they have held up their end of the deal and are optimistic that the transfer will see the light of the day despite continued rejections from the Bundesliga champions.

As for Lewandowski himself, he has made it abundantly clear that he does not wish to stay with the Bavarian giants beyond this summer. It has even been reported that the striker is even prepared to go on a strike and not show up for pre-season training to force a move to Barcelona.

Whether it comes down to that or Bayern decide to relent from their stance remains to be seen. As things stand, though, the finish line for this transfer is still nowhere in sight.
