The Robert Lewandowski transfer saga has been dominating the headlines over the past couple of weeks and could continue to do so for a while longer.

The 33-year-old, who is coming on the back of a spectacular campaign during which he scored 50 goals, will enter the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich. And, he has made it clear that he does not wish to sign a new contract and wants to leave the club in the summer.

Bayern Munich have been reluctant to see their superstar forward leave, but could eventually yield on their stance as Barcelona stand in wait to swoop in for Lewandowski’s signing.

The Catalan giants have made the Poland international their priority target for the summer transfer window. And, barring an agreement with Bayern Munich for transfer fees, things looked in place for Barça to land Lewandowski.

But there has been a fresh development in the situation, as reports indicate that Real Madrid have been offered a chance to sign the Bundesliga top-scorer.

Los Blancos are back in the market for a marquee forward after missing out on Kylian Mbappe and could look at the Bayern Munich superstar, with his environment reportedly offering him to Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Despite that, journalist Toni Juanmarti assures that Lewandowski has his heart set on a transfer to Barcelona. He claims that the 33-year-old striker only thinks about the Catalans and is intent on wearing the Blaugrana shirt for next season.

At the same time, Lewandowski understands that it is important for him to be patient and wait for Bayern to find a replacement before a transfer to Barcelona can be pushed through.

As iterated earlier, except for a transfer fee, the rest of the details between the player and Barça have already been sorted, with reports even claiming that there is an agreement over a €9 million per year contract for a three-year duration.

So, despite Real Madrid’s name being thrown into the ring, it seems like Barcelona are well on track to sign Lewandowski in the summer.
