Barcelona’s 4-0 demolition of Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg was more than just a scoreline—it was a statement.
The performance sent shockwaves across Europe and brought back memories of the club’s most dominant eras.
Among the voices that emerged from the euphoric dressing room were two standout performers: Robert Lewandowski and Fermin Lopez.
Lewandowski, who found the net twice against his former club, was proud but cautious. The Polish striker emphasised collective performance over individual glory, saying,
“We played very well. We’re not thinking about the semi-finals yet. We always want to play our football. We’ll go to win in Dortmund,” he began saying.

This blend of ambition and maturity is exactly what Barça need from their experienced number 9. Despite the impressive scoreline, Lewandowski was quick to remind everyone that nothing is guaranteed in Europe:
“This is the Champions League. We play as a team, that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t matter if the strikers score—what matters is the team.”
Yet, Lewandowski’s own form cannot be overlooked. With 99 goals in a Barça shirt, he’s on the verge of another major milestone.
“I’m happy with my 99 goals with Barça. I want to help the team with my goals,” he added, signalling his hunger is far from satisfied.
Joining him in the spotlight was Fermin, who delivered an assured and creative display in midfield.

“We are going to improve in every game. It is true that in the first half, we were maybe a little rushed and in the second half, we were better. I am very happy with the assist I gave today. It was an important match.”
His humility was just as striking as his performance. When asked about comparisons to the legendary Messi-Suarez-Neymar trident, Fermin offered a measured response:
“It’s difficult to match them, but Lamine, Lewy and Raphinha are very good. We are a family, we defend very well, and the results are there.”
Indeed, Barça’s unity and balance were evident against Dortmund. While the attack dazzled, the defence remained solid, and the midfield controlled the tempo with maturity.
As the team prepares for the second leg in Germany, the mindset within the squad appears perfectly aligned. There is belief without arrogance, focus without fear.
