Barcelona’s weekend league challenge between the two legs against Borussia Dortmund saw them lock horns against Leganes in a tricky challenge.
The hosts, playing to avoid relegation, gave their all over the 90 minutes against the league leaders who were playing to extend their lead at the top.
Unsurprisingly, the game at Butarque was not very dissimilar from the game at Montjuic between the two sides earlier this season as it was cagey and gruelling.
Barcelona eventually took the lead early in the first half through a Leganes own goal and had their chances to make it 2-0.
Having missed their chances to double the lead, they conceded an equaliser from the hosts, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Eventually, they held on to the slender lead.
Barça Universal brings you the player ratings from Leganes 0-1 Barcelona.
The goalkeeper was called into action early in the game and came up with a massive save to keep Barcelona in it. Overall had a more busy night than he has in recent weeks.
The left-back did well in the opening half-hour to push forward in attack and attempt to stretch the Leganes defence.
Concurrently, however, he did have some trouble dealing with the pace of Adria Altimira. Left the field injured in the first half and Hansi Flick will hope it is not something serious.
The Spanish veteran was solid in defence and led the back-line with a larger than uual role in terms of distribution.
Was calm in possession, always looking for defence-splitting passes from his deep-lying position and even popping up with a few successful ones sporadically.
Made a game saving last-man interception in the 91st minute to save the day for his team.
The Uruguayan star started the game in place of Pau Cubarsi as part of Flick’s regular rotations and did well with some raw last-man defensive blocks.
His distribution was not quite up to the mark and he faltered at times with the offside line. Did allow Leganes some inroads into Barcelona’s territory, particularly towards the end of the first half. Was taken off at half-time.
The right-back was constantly pressurised by Leganes star Dani Raba who looked to get past his grip and run into space on the flank. Did a good job of holding the Spaniard back and denying the hosts the outlet.
Offensively did not stand out as much as usual, although he did get a few shots off his boots from the flank.
Garcia replaced Frenkie de Jong in the starting lineup but the tradeoff did not quite work for Hansi Flick’s side as Barcelona lacked the required dynamism on the field to break down Leganes’ defence.
The Spanish youngster was not completely at fault for the team’s attacking deficiencies but was not equipped enough to handle the role De Jong partakes in.
Moved into a defensive role after half-time.
Pedri once again silently dictated the game and oversaw the overall buildup and transition plays.
Did well in his defensive role as well but lacked a partner to combine with to open up space and dominate the midfield as he usually does.
Linked up much better after De Jong’s introduction.
The La Masia graduate again proved to be a big threat in the Leganes box with his movements but did not get the service he would have hoped for. Had the team’s best chance of the first half through Raphinha’s delivery but could not capitalise.
Stood out with a sensational play close to the hour mark where he did everything right except the finish which he missed.

Yamal’s first half was bright with some inaccuracies as his deliveries were not as precise as he usually tends to keep them.
That said, he was still a menace on the flank and a constant source of attacking threat for the Blaugrana. Improved after the break with his deliveries.
The Brazilian had a roller-coaster first half as he did not get in front of the goal as much as usual but still partook regularly in the buildup.
Provided the pass that was eventually turned in for an own-goal to give Barcelona the lead, and the credit for the goal falls to him as the cross was a menacing one set to fall into Robert Lewandowski’s pass.

The Polish striker was looking for his 100th goal with FC Barcelona but had a rather frustrating first half with few chances.
Was well-placed to receive Raphinha’s cross and score the special goal early in the second period but Leganes’ defender Jorge Saenz ended up scoring an own goal in that particular action.
The Dutch star came on at half-time and immediately improved Barcelona’s progressive passes, ball circulation and attacking threat. No surprise that the eventual opener came minutes after his introduction.
