Bayer Leverkusen have no intention of entertaining bids for Piero Hincapie despite interest in the defender from the Premier League.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Hincapie after Levi Colwill sustained an ACL injury in training earlier this month.
Enzo Maresca has said publicly that he wants to sign another defender before September’s deadline. Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also monitored the Ecuadorian in recent months.
The latter are also looking to add an established central defender to their squad following the sale of Jarell Quansah earlier in the window.
However, Premier League teams are set for frustration. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Leverkusen consider Hincapie a key part of their project and will reject all approaches.
Head coach Erik ten Hag wants to keep the 23-year-old at the club amid a summer of overhaul at the German side. Leverkusen have already lost key figures in Jonathan Tah, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Granit Xhaka this summer.
Hincapie has made 165 appearances for Leverkusen since arriving from South America in 2021.
He formed part of the club’s unbeaten Bundesliga title success in 2023/24 and has established a reputation for confident ball-carrying from defence. Last season, he ranked among the Bundesliga’s top 10 players for touches and progressive carrying distance.
