The name of defender Yoro has of course found its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid for several months now.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the 18-year-old – widely considered to be one of the standout young talents in his home country of France – has been identified as a prime target on the part of the powers that be at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Florentino Pérez and co, in turn, have already begun work towards a summer deal.

And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, a fresh insight into ongoings behind the scenes at Lille has come to the fore.

In a significant boost to Real Madrid’s hopes of striking a deal, the aforementioned Marca have confirmed that Yoro has conveyed a direct message to the brass at The Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The message in question? “I want to play for Real Madrid.”

Yoro has made it crystal clear to his employers that he has no intention of extending his current terms, due to expire in the summer of 2025.

Real Madrid, in turn, have initiated a fresh round of contacts with agent Jorge Mendes, amid hopes of striking a summer deal for a fee in the region of 30-40 million.
