RB Leipzig have made contact with Liverpool to discuss a possible move for midfielder Harvey Elliott, according to The Athletic.
The Bundesliga outfit are among several clubs interested in the 22-year-old, with discussions ongoing between both sides. However, talks have not yet reached an advanced stage.
Leipzig are exploring their options ahead of a potential departure of Xavi Simons, who could join Chelsea before the transfer window closes.
Elliott made only two Premier League starts for Liverpool last season. Both came after Arne Slot’s team had wrapped up the title.
Despite limited starts, the midfielder made 28 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool. He bagged five goals and three assists.
Elliott enjoyed a strong summer at international level. He was named Player of the Tournament at the European Under-21 Championship, where he helped England retain their crown.
He was one of only two players in the squad who featured in the 2023 and 2025 title-winning teams under Lee Carsley.
Elliott is a creative and adaptable attacking midfielder who can also operate as an inverted winger.
He often uses his left foot to beat defenders, link up with teammates, and deliver accurate passes or crosses.
Elliott is quick across the pitch, has excellent vision, and presses with intensity.
He is also brave on the ball, often attempting risky passes that split defences and open up space.
A decision on his next step is expected in the coming weeks as the transfer window edges closer to its final stages.
