With Jonny Evans and Çağlar Söyüncü as Leicester’s only realistic first-choice options at centre-back, the Foxes are in the market for more depth ahead of the Premier League season.
Leicester are set to announce Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne in the coming days and their next centre-back may come from the Serie A as well.
According to Tuttosport, Leicester City want to sign Torino’s Nicolas Nkoulou. However, Torino have offered £9m-rated Brazilian centre-back Lyanco in an effort to get the Foxes to back down from the AFCON champion.
The 30-year-old Nkoulou is a seasoned veteran, having earned 75 caps for the Cameroon national team and has been a regular for both Marseille (207 appearances) and Torino (115).
Meanwhile, Lyanco is still an up-and-coming talent and a current Brazil U-23 international. Lyanco came over from São Paulo in 2017 and has made 28 appearances for the club, also going on loan and making 13 appearances for Bologna in the second half of the 2018-19 season.
Though Torino would love for Nkoulou to stay for the long-haul, his contract is set to expire next summer, meaning they would need to cash in before the window shuts in October or otherwise risk losing the player on a free.
