Leicester City pair Ricardo Pereira and Harvey Barnes are set to miss the beginning of the Premier League season through injury.

Portuguese full-back Pereira has struggled with injuries throughout his time with the Foxes and will reportedly miss up to six months following a ruptured achilles.

Barnes’ injury, on the other hand, isn’t as severe but the English winger will miss “a few weeks” due to a knee injury.

Transfer speculation has been rife at Leicester throughout the summer but manager Brendan Rodgers cooled talks on certain potential outgoings.

“Wesley Fofana and James Maddison are not for sale. These are very important players to us,” said the 49-year-old.

“We’re in a situation where we need to move some players out but that doesn’t mean getting rid of anyone, our best assets”

With no incoming transfers so far and plenty of other departures though, the injury news will come as a hammer blow to Leicester on the eve of the Premier League.
