Leicester City’s interim head coach Jennifer Foster says that her side must aim to deliver a consistent level of performance against Arsenal.

The Foxes face The Gunners at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon. More than 40,000 Arsenal fans are expected to be in attendance for the match.

The previous meeting of the two sides was an absolute thriller. Leicester City established a shock 2-0 first half lead at The King Power Stadium but Arsenal fought back strongly in the second half, netting six goals without reply. That game brought both positives and negatives for Leicester City and interim boss Foster has called for more consistency ahead of this afternoon’s clash.

“Of course, it is a fresh game but there are a lot of positives that we can take from that last game,” Foster said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We went 2-0 up and deservedly so. That’s important for us when we go up against the so-called ‘top three’ or ‘top four’. Anybody is beatable, we’ve seen that in recent weeks with some of the top teams.

“We know what we did to them in the first half last time but also, we are mindful of what they did to us in the second half. We just need to make sure that we can see games out but we are consistent throughout the 90 minutes.”

Leicester City return to North London one week on from their Adobe Women’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Foster has been pleased with the reaction from her group since that disappointing loss.

She said “What’s great about this group is that the hurt and disappointment has been fuelled into making sure that they put it right this weekend. I think that shows the level of professionalism in the squad and how hungry they are to finish the season strongly. That’s what’s so pleasing, that we still have that and it has made my job easier because the players have already done that.”

Leicester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal kicks-off at 2pm.
