After spending the second-half of last season on loan at Burnley, David Datro Fofana (21) is expected to leave Chelsea again this summer. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Leicester City are leading the race to sign the Ivorian forward, but they face competition from Stuttgart and Villarreal.

Fofana has of course already spent time in Germany, spending the first half of last season on loan at Union Berlin, where he failed to reach his potential. The former Molde player scored two and created one in 17 games across all competitions for Union, before scoring four and creating one in 15 games for Burnley.

But the 21-year-old’s performances were unable to prevent Vincent Kompany’s side from being relegation to the Championship.

And now, upon their return to the Premier League after topping the Championship, Leicester City, coached by Steve Cooper, are leading the race for Fofana. Romano further reports that the player is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, most likely on loan with an obligation to buy.
