Leicester City forward Shannon O’Brien has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Foxes this evening.

O’Brien has spent the last three-and-a-half years with Leicester City after joining the club from Coventry United in the January 2021 transfer window. The forward helped the East Midlands side win promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2020/2021 before going on to make 40 top flight appearances in which she has scored one goal.

The 22-year-old has had to battle some niggling injuries in the last couple of seasons which have restricted her game time. O’Brien will be hoping to enjoy better fortunes in the 2024/2025 season.

After signing on again at Leicester City, O’Brien said “I am thrilled to be extending my contract with the Club. It’s a really exciting time for the team and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey next season. Hopefully, this year, we can keep making progress and pushing forward together.”

O’Brien becomes the third player to sign a new contract with Leicester City this summer. Defenders Sophie Howard and Janice Cayman have also extended their deals at The King Power Stadium during the close season.
