Ruud van Nistelrooy did not have to wait long to receive his first official Premier League appointment.
We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as our new First Team Manager 🦊–
Leicester City have officially called upon the former Dutch international to lead the Foxes forward as their new manager.
The 48-year-old recently garnered considerable praise when acting as Manchester United's interim boss after the sacking of compatriot Erik ten Hag.
He boasted an undefeated record at United (3-1-0) in his short spell on the Old Trafford touchline, and the Foxes may have found a potential gem in the making who could prove capable of righting the ship in short order.
Van Nistelrooy previously managed Jong PSV but stepped down, citing a lack of support at Philips Stadion. Now, he moves to King Power Stadium with a new challenge.
"It is my pleasure to welcome Ruud to Leicester City," said Leicester chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, before adding "Ruud’s experience, knowledge, and winning mentality will undoubtedly bring great value to us, and we look forward to supporting him in achieving success for our fans and our Club."
The new man himself chimed in as well, stating "I’m proud, I’m excited. Everybody that I speak to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic.
"They have great stories about the quality of the people working at the Club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the Club is impressive."
Leicester sit just one point clear of the bottom three while owning one of the worst defensive records in England's top flight, and will take up his new post for the first time on Tuesday evening against West Ham at the KP Stadium.
