It has been confirmed that legendary Serbian coach Radomir Antić has died at the age of 71.

Known throughout his career as ‘Radi’, he held the distinction of coaching Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid (taking charge of the latter in three different spells).

His greatest success came with the Rojiblancos, who he presided over for five seasons and was in charge for the historic double win in 1995/96.

Club president Enrique Cerezo led the tributes to Antić, whose cause of death has not yet been released.

“Today is a sad day for the world of football. A great person and an architect of a magnificent golden at Atlético has left us,” he said via a press release.

“The league title and Copa del Rey that he won with us will remain in our memory forever. It was a privilege to share the game of football with him and our thoughts are with his family.”

Throughout his lengthy tenure in Spain, Antić also coached Real Zaragoza, Real Oviedo and Celta.
