Highlights

  • Brighton's successful model of developing young talent and selling them for profit will likely continue with star player Karou Mitoma, who is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
  • If Mitoma were to leave, Brighton may look to sign Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville as a replacement, despite having no interest in losing Mitoma.
  • Leeds United will be hoping to hold onto Summerville, as he has been one of their standout players this season with impressive goal and assist statistics.

Brighton have a knack of developing promising young talent into top-class players and selling them on for a hefty profit.

The likes of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister saw the Seagulls coup around £150 million in transfer fees during the summer transfer window, and their successful business model will likely see them continue to make big money on their promising talent.

This situation will be no different for their star man Karou Mitoma, who has been attracting a tonne of interest from some of the Premier League's biggest clubs, who would be willing to pay the big fees that are being sought after by the Amex Stadium outfit.

The likes of Manchester City are said to be interested in the Japanese international, and given that Mitoma signed a new contract on the South Coast in the summer, Brighton would certainly be able to hold out for the big fee that they'd want.

Why Mitoma's situation could affect Crycensio Summerville''s Leeds United future

With Mitoma being a left-sided tricky winger with good output in the box, Roberto De Zerbi will be looking to bring in someone similar, and their may be a ready-made replacement in one of Leeds United's forwards.

Summerville has been one of the standout players in the Championship this season for high-flying Leeds United, so it would come as no surprise if De Zerbi's side come swooping in for him in the summer.

According to reports from Alan Nixon of the Sun, the Seagulls are reportedly interested in signing Summerville if they are to lose their star man Mitoma, despite having no interest in losing the Japanese winger any time soon.

Whilst it would take a huge fee to prise Summerville away from Leeds this month, if the Elland Road outfit are to miss out on promotion this season, then a move away from the club would be likely for the 22-year-old this summer.

The Dutchman has 12 goals and six assists to his name so far this season in just 23 appearances, and is even attracting rumours of a move to the Premier League this month if clubs are willing to stump up the £30 million fee that is wanted by the Whites.

Newcastle United are said to be interested in Summerville this month, but Daniel Farke's side will be desperate to keep him on their books if they want to end up back in the Premier League come the end of the season.

Leeds are currently 4th in the Championship, just seven points behind second place Ipswich Town, so they have every chance of earning automatic promotion if they can hold onto their best players.

Leeds United may want to keep an eye on Mitoma's situation at the Asian Cup

The Japanese winger has recently been called up to the Japanese squad for the Asian Cup, meaning he'll be missing around a month of action whilst he represents his nation.

This means that Brighton will be looking for ways to replace him while he is absent, and Leeds United will be hoping that there are already in-house replacements for Mitoma, and that they won't come after Summerville at any point.

Brighton have some top young talent already in the likes of Simon Adingra and Joao Pedro, so it will be intriguing for Leeds fans to see if they can replace Mitoma's absence and save them from a dreaded departure of one of their best players.
