Given the recent run of poor results at Leeds United in recent weeks with consecutive defeats against Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal ending with a total of 14 goals conceded and no points on the board, it’s safe to say that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in a rough patch at the moment.

The fact that Leeds have an unfortunate number of senior players out injured at the moment doesn’t help things either, especially with a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool next up for the Yorkshire club.

One glimmer of hope that the Leeds fans could look to is the January transfer window and hope that their club will do some business that will strengthen and potentially improve the squad from the shape it’s in now.

In terms of which players the club could look to bring in next month, one figure that Bielsa could potentially save the club millions in transfer fees with is Mateusz Bogusz, who is currently on loan with Spanish club UD Ibiza.

Since originally joining Leeds back in the 2019 January transfer window from Polish club Ruch Chorzow, the 20-year-old central-midfielder has made just two appearances for their U23 side and three for the senior team.

During his time in Spain, Bogusz has made 17 league appearances for Ibiza, chipping in with three goals and three assists playing as an attacking midfielder and on both wings, showing his versatility and attacking prowess.

With current Leeds player Mateusz Klich previously sharing his praise for the youngster saying that Bogusz could one day become a better player than himself, this should give the player who is currently valued at £135k according to Transfermarkt, and Leeds fans the belief that he can go on to have a bright future at Elland Road.

Speak about the youngster, his manager at international youth level, Czeslaw Michniewicz once told reporters: “He has great talent.”

With Bielsa recently saying that the club will assess the possibility of bringing certain players that are on loan back to Yorkshire based on their improvement, Bogusz’s goals and assists this season will have certainly put him in the frame for a possible return to Leeds.

If the club does bring the young Pole back in January to fill in for some of their current injured attacking players such as Dan James or Rodrigo, this could be his chance to finally prove to Bielsa and everyone else at the club just what he is capable of and why he should have a future there. On top of that, he could even replace his mentor down the line in Klich.
