Leeds United have finished third in the Championship, meaning they are heading for a play-off semi-final showdown with Norwich City, beginning this weekend with the first-leg at Carrow Road.

Daniel Farke's side had been the form team in the division in 2024 up until the international break, although they were defeated for the first time at home in the league against Blackburn Rovers recently, at a critical point in the campaign, and defeats to QPR and Southampton then ended their hopes of automatic promotion.

It means a play-off campaign for the first time since 2019, when Marcelo Bielsa oversaw a two-legged defeat to Derby County. However, they remain in good hands, as the former Norwich boss is a two-time Championship winner and is aiming for a third promotion in as many years from the second tier. Leeds may well need Wembley for Farke to make it a hat-trick of promotions, with the final to be held on Sunday 26th May.

However, in the meantime, with those season-defining play-off games looming ever closer, here we have taken a look at some of the latest news and biggest headlines coming out of the club.

Crysencio Summerville transfer claim

Leeds' star winger Crysencio Summerville hasn't pushed for a move away at any point during the 2023/24 campaign, according to Ben Jacobs, who revealed this information to Give Me Sport.

But their recent form hasn't been great in recent times and in a further potential blow, Jacobs feels the Whites could face a battle to retain star man Summerville. However, he has also revealed that Summerville's conduct has been brilliant, telling Give Me Sport: "Summerville all season has been focused on Leeds, very professional and very loyal to the club.

"Naturally, when a club like Liverpool or any other club of that nature make an offer, it can be very hard for players to turn it down.

"They’re joining a club with Champions League football, much bigger wages, and no risk of dropping out of the division a season later. "So you can understand why Leeds may face a battle to keep Summerville. But we should stress that Summerville has always been very loyal and committed to Leeds.

"He’s not been one of the players, for example in the January window, to start asking for anything or pushing for an exit."

Swansea City could be set for Joel Piroe windfall

Swansea City could bank as much as £3 million if the Whites win promotion to the Premier League this season, according to Wales Online.

Joel Piroe left the Swans to join Leeds last summer in a deal believed to be worth an initial fee of £12 million. However, it's understood that one of the add-ons is dependent on Daniel Farke's side winning promotion to the Premier League.

It was also recently announced that the club made a pre-tax loss of £17.9 million for the year ending July 2023, so it's clear that money is needed, and £3 million from Leeds winning promotion would be very welcome to go towards their transfer kitty next season as well.

Jack Stacey's Leeds claim

Jack Stacey believes that Leeds should be the ones with the pressure on them as they get set to face Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday in the first-leg of their play-off semi-final.

The league standings show a 17-point gap between the Whites and the Canaries. The full-back said that this should make him and his teammates play more freely, while the opposition should be feeling the pressure because they didn't meet their targets.

"If you look at the tie, we finished sixth and Leeds have been going for automatic promotion for a long time, so the balance of pressure is mostly towards them," said the full-back, via PinkUn.

"It doesn't mean that we're not going to give everything to get there, but in terms of pressure, I think it's skewed towards them and we can relish that.

"Obviously they're going to be disappointed, because they had a chance to go up automatically and now they're looking into the play-offs.
