Leeds United are set for a busy summer as the club prepares for a second consecutive season in the Championship.

Leeds United are preparing for another year in the Championship after their play-off heartbreak against Southampton back in May.

Failure to win promotion was always going to have ramifications, with Whites chairman Paraag Marathe admitting after the defeat at Wembley that departures would be necessary as they look to comply with PSR rules.

Since then, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding plenty of players, but so far nothing has been agreed in terms of major outgoings.

Leeds United’s summer plans

Daniel Farke knows what it takes to be successful in the Championship, and the fact that Leeds picked up 90 points in the previous campaign means that major changes aren’t required at Elland Road.

Instead, it will be about making the few tweaks that are needed, whilst any incomings are likely to be funded by a big sale.

Crysencio Summerville transfer talk continues

With the Yorkshire side expecting to lose a few prized assets, it’s no surprise that there has been plenty of talk regarding the future of Summerville, who was named as the best player in the Championship last season.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Brighton are keeping tabs on the situation of the Dutch youngster, and The Athletic have claimed that he is on Newcastle’s radar as well.

The Magpies are in the market for a wide man this summer, and the update says that they want Michael Olise, although there is an acceptance that he could move elsewhere, which could make Summerville a real option.

Unfortunately for Leeds, Summerville’s exit does seem likely, but Romano has added that they will be in a position to command a fee that could reach £40m.

Marc Roca set for permanent Real Betis stay

A host of players left Leeds on loan last season, so this summer was always going to bring fresh doubts over their respective futures.

Midfielder Roca fell into that category, with the 27-year-old having spent the previous season with Real Betis - and he generally impressed.

Therefore, a new agreement was always expected to be reached, and reports from Spain have suggested that the La Liga side will complete a deal to sign Roca on a permanent basis.

From Leeds’ perspective, this was the outcome they would’ve wanted, as whilst Roca is a good player, he made it clear he didn’t want to stay following relegation, and his sale will free up funds that Farke can use to strengthen the group.

Tyler Adams makes Jesse Marsch claim

USA international Adams was another player who left in the summer, as he secured a permanent switch to Bournemouth.

That didn’t make the midfielder the most popular figure in Leeds, but Adams would argue that he needed to be playing at the highest possible level.

He was also one of few to emerge with credit from the season when the Whites were relegated, with an injury to Adams a key contributing factor as to why the side finished in the bottom three.

And, speaking to the Daily Mail, Adams has been reflecting on that relegation, as he claimed that had the club kept faith with Jesse Marsch, they wouldn’t have gone down.

“We were actually in a good position when Jesse got fired. I thought that if we just continued the way that we were going, we would have stayed up.”
