Leeds United have reignited their interest in Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo, according to this morning's print report from the Daily Mirror (via MOT Leeds News).

The Whites have already strengthened their squad this term, managing to compensate for those who have departed by bringing in some top-quality additions.

The 49ers certainly made an impression during their first transfer window at the helm - but it's unclear whether Daniel Farke will have much money to spend on additions after a busy summer.

There are a couple of positions they would probably like to strengthen, with their centre-back department potentially needing some additions if others leave and the right-back area looking a little bare at this stage.

Many people have also suggested that a number 10 could also be useful and Diallo could potentially be a suitable addition in this role, with the Whites also taking an interest in him back in the summer.

Plenty of teams are believed to be interested in him, with the Daily Mirror linking the Ivorian to Middlesbrough, Southampton and Sunderland as well as the Whites.

This interest doesn't come as a major shock considering how much of an asset he was for the Black Cats.

None of these teams had a real opportunity to recruit him during the summer because of his injury woes - but he's now fully fit.

Unfortunately for these clubs, it has been reported by the Daily Mail that United aren't prepared to let him leave Old Trafford this month, which is a blow to both interested teams and the player who will want to secure as much game time as possible.

Diallo has reportedly impressed in training - and Erik ten Hag still views him as a part of his plans despite the fact he hasn't won too many minutes on the pitch this season.

With this in mind, Leeds may face an uphill battle in their potential quest to sign the 21-year-old.

Leeds United are right to target Amad Diallo

Diallo is clearly a game-changer at this level and could be a vital asset for the Whites in their quest to secure automatic promotion.

He's the type of player who can make a difference to a club's league position - and without him - the Black Cats probably wouldn't have secured a top-six finish at the end of last season.

If it wasn't for injuries and a shortage of depth in some areas, they may have even won promotion.

Leeds have the likes of Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter available as number 10 options - but one or both of them could be required up top at some point.
