Leeds United have reached an agreement in principle to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer, according to The Athletic.

The 28-year-old forward became a free agent this summer after ending his nine-year spell with Everton.

Calvert-Lewin is expected to undergo a medical at Thorp Arch soon, with the move likely to be confirmed once all formalities are completed.

This includes goalkeeper Lucas Perri, who joined earlier in the summer transfer window.

Calvert-Lewin is a risky option for Leeds

Calvert-Lewin scored 71 goals in 274 appearances for Everton.

His spell with the club was heavily impacted by recurring injuries, which limited his playing time in recent seasons.

His style of play also allows him to hold up the ball effectively, link up with teammates, and create chances.

He presses aggressively, challenges defenders and works tirelessly to win possession back. Leeds hope he will bring physical presence and attacking intelligence to their forward line.

His ability to make well-timed runs and compete for long balls could suit their attacking approach.

If the medical goes as planned, the club will announce his arrival in the coming days.

However, Calvert-Lewin is a risky signing for Leeds given his previous injury record.

Their fans will likely be disappointed that the club has now acquired a more consistent and reliable goalscorer.
