They have taken the action on the advice of the police and will not reopen until further notice.

The police alerted the west Yorkshire club to a security threat made on social media towards them.

A member of the public reported the threat to West Yorkshire Police last night.

They quickly made their way to Elland Road and commenced an investigation to ascertain the credibility of the threat.

The stadium and offices surrounding it have since been evacuated for the time being.

Fortunately for Leeds, they have no home game this weekend due to the international break.

They would have been forced to postpone it if Premier League action was on.

Social media is often a platform for pranks, but Leeds could not afford to take chances.

The authorities will advise them on the next course of action after temporarily sealing off their ground.

The Whites do not return to action until April 1, when they face leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

They return to Elland Road the following Sunday for a six-pointer against Crystal Palace.

Leeds are 14th in the Premier League after 27 games.

Only two points separate the Whites from the relegation places and survival has not been achieved yet.

The battle to stay up is between the bottom nine clubs.

Leeds parted with Jesse Marsch last month and have since appointed Javi Gracia as his replacement.

He started his reign with a win over Southampton.

Leeds narrowly lost their next league game under him to Chelsea but drew 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion afterwards.

They headed into the break with a 4-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers and will hope to return to action with a bang.
