Leeds United director Sandro Mencucci has revealed chairman Andrea Radrizzani wants to buy Serie B club Salernitana.

Claudio Lotito owns the club, though also runs Lazio and must make a decision about what to do with Salernitana.

Mencucci has made it clear an offer was made on June 23 and will expire on July 3, meaning it is still on the table if Lotito does put Salernitana into a trust.

“We do not want to argue with Lotito, but to communicate to the fans the seriousness of the negotiation," said Mencucci.

“Our proposal is serious. We do not want to do just one year and then relegate, but we want to give Salernitana stability in the top flight.

“We know that an important economic outlay is needed."

Asked if the offer had been rejected, Mencucci said: “No, he has not yet answered us and we look forward to it.

“We trust Lotito, we know the accounts are in order and we have not even done a check. We also know the trust has not yet been signed."

Asked if Radrizzani will continue to negotiate if Lotito puts the club in a trust, Mencucci said: “Sure, but in a very short time.

“Our offer is valid for 10 days, within this period and not in six months, any person in charge of the trust will have to give us an answer.

“The team has to be strengthened and there is not much time."
