Lecce Sporting Director Pantaleo Corvino feels that his professional relationship with Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has been a very long one.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Lecce executive remarked on the amount of time that both he and his Inter counterpart have been in the game.

Corvino has helped guide Lecce back to Serie A this season, and the Apulian club’s first test in the top flight will be a formidable one in the form of Inter.

This Nerazzurri team have been built thanks to the work of Marotta, who like former Fiorentina Director Corvino is someone with a long history in Italian football going back to smaller regional clubs.

Both of the pair have seen the changes and developments in how football clubs are run, and have also been among the figures to have prompted these changes, and now both are back in the Italian top flight.

He noted that “We started at it thirty years ago, when he was at Varese and I was at Casarano. We were some of the first to really open up the transfer market.
