Yesterday’s win over Lecce was the perfect way for Inter Milan to respond to Napoli in the Serie A title race.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that the squad rotation worked perfectly in the match.

Inter are really feeling the pressure in the Serie A title race.

The consistency and relentlessness with which Napoli keep winning always demands a response. Particularly with the Partenopei’s last two wins having come against Atalanta and Juventus.

Therefore, every match is a must-win for the Nerazzurri.

An away trip to face Lecce may not be the toughest fixture on paper. But the Giallorossi had plenty of motivation considering the relegation battle.

Moreover, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided to make some notable changes to his team. With big matches against Monaco and AC Milan on the way, the coach rotated.

None of that was a problem for inter yesterday, however.

Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi got his squad rotation right. Midfielder Davide Frattesi shone on his first Serie A start in three months, scoring the opener and also winning a penalty.

Piotr Zielinski, meanwhile, looked very comfortable in the holding midfield role.

Inter kept yet another clean sheet – their sixth straight away match in Serie A without conceding.

And at the other end of the pitch, four goals took Inter to 55 goals in the league so far this campaign. That’s the most in the division, seven clear of Atalanta and eighteen more than Napoli.

None of that means that the pressure from Napoli isn’t there anymore.

But Inter are proving capable of responding to it.
