Having initially left for Italy twelve years ago, right-back Loïc Négo is closing in on a return to France as newly-promoted Le Havre look to sign the free agent, according to L’Équipe.
The 32-year-old was notably part of the team that won the U19 Euros in 2010, alongside Antoine Griezmann and Alexandre Lacazette.
After representing France at all levels from U16 to U20, Négo went on to become a senior Hungarian international. Over the last decade, he has turned out for Budapest outfit Újpest and then Fehérvár, his time in the central European country briefly punctuated by a spell at Charlton. The full-back notably faced France at the last European Championships.
Négo is now a free agent, and according to L’Équipe, intends to return to France and show why he was once considered the national team’s future right-back. The Normandy side’s scouting team are keen on adding some experience to a young squad after of their first campaign in the top flight in over a decade, and the Nantes youth product has emerged as the favourite over World Cup winner Djibril Sidibé.
