However, no new contract has been offered yet and as things stand Matip will be a free agent this summer.

According to Italian daily Il Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato.com), Lazio and Roma are exploring signing the defender on a free transfer in the coming months.

There are still concerns whether the centre-back will be fit for the start of the 2024/25 season.

However, clubs are circling around Matip and are considering getting their hands on him.

There are other clubs in Europe as well who are keeping close tabs on the Liverpool defender’s situation at the moment.

Lazio and Roma are showing big interest in him and want to take the centre-back to Italy this summer.
