A hard-fought, crucial victory. Inter edged Roma 1-0 at the Olimpico on Matchday 8 of Serie A, with captain Lautaro Martinez sealing the win. This result lifts Inter to 17 points, just two behind Napoli. It was a gruelling match, with Inter losing both Calhanoglu and Acerbi to injuries within the first 25 minutes.
Both teams hit the post in the first half, but it was Lautaro Martinez who broke the deadlock in the 60th minute with a thunderous strike. That goal not only secured the win but also elevated Lautaro to 133 goals for Inter, placing him joint 7th in the club’s all-time scoring chart, alongside Istvan Nyers. The two now share the title of Inter’s top foreign scorers.
Svilar repeatedly denied Dumfries a second goal, and Inter had to dig deep, with Sommer making a crucial save from Soulé in the dying moments. The final whistle blew, and Inter triumphed at the Olimpico.
