is a doubt for Chelsea ahead of their Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona.

The 22-year-old is Chelsea’s top scorer with 15 goals in all competitions this season and is touch-and-go for Saturday’s clash with Barca after missing the 3-0 WSL win over Aston Villa on Wednesday.

James trained separately from her team-mates on Friday morning. If she is passed fit and plays on Saturday, she could be pivotal to the Blues’ hopes of victory at the 54,000-seater Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.

Millie Bright, who has been out of action since sustaining a knee injury in November, trained alongside James but is not expected to feature.

Emma Hayes’s side lead the WSL table on goal difference and are also chasing a maiden Champions League triumph, but their FA Cup hopes were ended by Manchester United in last Sunday’s semi-final.
