Chelsea are preparing to take on Servette in the UEFA Europa Conference League tonight, but as you’d expect for late August, it’s still transfer stories grabbing everyone’s attention.

Sterling isn’t in the squad tonight – as he wasn’t at the weekend when we played Manchester City. That omission caused a stir – and provoked a reaction from the winger’s “camp,” but it’s clear what his situation is now – the club want him out, and are making it very clear that he’s not welcome anymore, and risks wasting a season without playing.

Sterling seems relatively happy to go, if it’s to somewhere that can offer him good playing time. And this evening top Chelsea insider Ben Jacobs has claimed that the Blues have already got serious interest from two teams in the 29 year old.

His Tweet just now says that the player and the club “will work together to find a solution,” with Chelsea “expected to present options to Sterling soon.”

What’s on the table for Raheem

The issue is his massive contract, which most sources report as above £300,000 a week. That makes finding a taker desperately difficult, and we’d imagine that wherever he ends up, Chelsea will be paying a big chunk of his wages.

The two teams named by Jacobs are Aston Villa, who are in the Champions League and always looking to upgrade and increase their depth in attacking players, and Juventus.

The Villa links certainly seem stronger – Juve just “hold an interest” and it’s hard to see them squaring the finances anyway. They’re currently freezing out their own winger, Federico Chiesa, so they’re unlikely to want to dive in and pick up a new player heading towards 30 on vast wages.

Jacobs adds significantly that Sterling “won’t move to Saudi,” and it seems clear that ‘s coming from the player’s camp.
