With freezing temperatures hitting the United Kingdom this weekend, unfortunately, not many matches down in League Two escaped postponement.

Just three matches went ahead as scheduled in the end. There was a 2-0 victory for Gillingham away at Colchester for example, and a 2-0 home win for Hartlepool against Rochdale.

Not forgetting the 3-0 thumping dished out by second-placed Stevenage to league leaders Leyton Orient, allowing them to close the gap to the top.

With that said, attention now once again turns to transfers this month, and with that in mind, below we’ve brought you the latest transfer news coming out of the fourth tier.

AFC Wimbledon midfielder departs on loan

First and foremost, AFC Wimbledon were said to be exploring loan options for midfielder Alfie Bendle ahead of the weekend and it appears they found a home quickly.

As per the South London Press, the League Two outfit were exploring options that would allow the 17-year-old to go out and get first team experience and exposure.

Bendle has made 12 appearances this season in all competitions for the club and been a regular in the squad, but clearly the club want him more involved.

Bendle has now headed out on loan to Vanarama National League South side until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Leyton Orient sign midfielder

Despite being top of the league, Leyton Orient are continuing to try and strengthen their options this window.

Indeed, the club have secured the signing of midfielder Jordan Lyden, who previously won promotion with boss Richie Wellens at Swindon Town.

The 26-year-old joins the club on a short-term contract until the end of the season, with an option for a further year included in the deal.

Upon signing for the club, Lyden told Leyton Orient club media: “The gaffer got in touch with me a few weeks ago and said that he wanted a midfielder of my calibre.”

“He gave me a chance to come in and prove my fitness, and thankfully I’ve been able to do just that, and I’m delighted to be back in first-team football.”

“I was with the gaffer before at Swindon Town, so I know what it is like to work under him and what he wants from his sides.”

Doncaster target striker

Last but not least, Doncaster Rovers are targeting a forward addition this window.

That is according to the Doncaster Free Press, who report that Scunthorpe United striker Caolan Lavery is a transfer target of the club.

It was announced today that Lavery has departed the Iron after his short term contract with the club came to an end, freeing him up to make the move to Donny.

Lavery had netted eight goals in his 18 National League appearances so far this campaign.

This is certainly one to watch in the coming days.
