The battle to win promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs promises to deliver plenty of memorable moments.
Stockport County, Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers and Leyton Orient are the teams aiming to secure a place in the second tier next season.
Read on as we look at the upcoming schedule before assessing which team will most likely win promotion to the Championship.
Stockport head into the play-offs in a buoyant mood after winning 15, drawing four and losing two of their last 21 matches.
A five-week blip on either side of Louie Barry’s recall by Aston Villa in the winter transfer window ultimately cost them automatic promotion.
While County are a decent side, calling a winner in their semi-final tie against Leyton Orient is no easy task.
Charlton have also been in flying form over the past few months, picking up 61 points from their final 27 matches of the season.
Had they produced the same points per game average during the rest of the campaign, they would have finished second by a considerable margin.
They are impossible to oppose against Wycombe in the semi-final and look a good bet to climb into the Championship for the first time since 2019/20.
Wycombe are on course for automatic promotion at one point, but a dismal dip in form dropped them down to fifth in the standings.
They collected just 25 points from their last 17 fixtures and struggled to score after the goals dried up for star forward Richard Kone.
Charlton beat Wycombe home and away during the regular season by a combined 6-1 scoreline and can dominate them again in the play-offs.
Richie Wellens’ side thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-1 on the final day to finish in sixth place, and they will fancy their chances against Stockport in the play-offs.
They ended the season with six straight victories and should not be underestimated in their semi-final against Stockport.
Although the tie is impossible to predict, the eventual winners may have their work cut out to overcome Charlton in the final.
