Gonzalo HiguaĆn struck in stoppage time to hand Inter Miami a crucial victory at DC United on Sunday.
Scorers: Benteke 22ā², Fountas 57ā²; Campana 39ā², 53ā², HiguaĆn 90+4ā²
The game saw former Manchester United and England team-mates Wayne Rooney and Phil Neville face off from their respective technical areas.
Much is expected at DC of recent arrival Christian Benteke, and the Belgium international opened his account in MLS when he got on the end of Chris Durkinās cross to volley home a clinical finish and give the hosts the lead.
But Miami hit back with a Leonardo Campana brace either side of the interval to swing the game in their favour.
His second was an excellent example of the defensive troubles United continue to experience as Campana was afforded far too much time and space to finish inside the six-yard area.
Rooney has instilled a fighting mentality since taking the reins at DC, however, and they managed to level matters just before the hour mark when a deflected effort from Taxiarchis Fountas found its way to the net.
It looked like Miami would drop two crucial points until the 94th minute when former DeAndre Yedlinās low cross was swept home by HiguaĆn.
The win lifts Inter above Columbus Crew and into the seventh and final play-off spot, while the Black and Red remain rooted to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
