Las Palmas preparing for departure of highly-rated manager

Las Palmas have had a fine first season back in La Liga, despite having not won any of their last 13 matches. Their campaign ends on Sunday against Alaves, and it could be the final match in charge for head coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta.

As per Diario AS, the former Barca Atletic manager is seen as being more out than in at the Gran Canaria-based side. In recent days, he has been linked with the managerial position at Sevilla, who announced last weekend that Quique Sanchez Flores would be stepping down following this weekend’s final round of fixtures.

The report notes that Las Palmas are already lining up a replacement for Garcia Pimienta, that being current Real Oviedo head coach Luis Carrion, who could leave for free in the summer if promotion via the Segunda play-offs is not achieved.

There’s no doubt that Garcia Pimienta will be hot property in the summer if the decision is taken for him to leave Las Palmas. Sevilla is certainly a likely destination, especially given that they have missed out on leading candidate Jagoba Arrasate.
