The powers that be at Las Palmas have set their sights on the signature of a departing member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Getafe.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing La Provincia, who point towards Jaime Mata as the player in question.

Jaime, for his part, is all set to enter the market as a free agent this summer.

As much comes after the board at the aforementioned Getafe came to the decision not to renew the expiring terms of the aging frontman.

If the latest word doing the rounds online is anything to go by, however, then this does not necessarily mean the end when it comes to Jaime’s La Liga journey as a whole.

As per MD, the 36-year-old has emerged as a leading target on the part of another of the Spanish top-flight’s clubs, in Las Palmas.

Los Amarillos are already hard at work in their planning for next season, with deals for all of Manu Fuster, Viti, Iván Gil, Dink Horkaš and Marvin Park having been wrapped up.

And Jaime, it would appear, could be next through the door in Gran Canaria…
