Barcelona star Lamine Yamal had time for a quick joke at the expense of his friend and Athletic Club star Nico Williams.
Lamine Yamal has picked up where he left off last season as the 17-year-old netted a spectacular first club goal of the campaign in Barcelona’s 2-1 La Liga home win over Williams’ visitors.
His long range effort got the ball rolling on a night where the pair were under pressure to perform after Williams opted against a summer move to Catalonia.
The pair hugged before the game but there was plenty of competitiveness once the game got underway in Barcelona.
Williams was the closest player to Lamine Yamal, as he smashed home a first half opener, but he could do nothing to prevent him from scoring.
“My goal? I saw Nico coming to close me down, he’s not very intense in defence, I looked for the gap and went for it. But, we’re very good friends”, he told a post match interview with DAZN.
Tonight was the first time the duo had started a league game against each other and they will meet again in the Spanish Super Cup in January.
