The Senegalese midfielder is battling with Ivorians Oumar Diakité and Karim Konaté to win the trophy for best young African, during the "CAF Awards" ceremony, to be held on December 16 in Marrakech.
A Monegasque is still in the fight to be the best young African player of the year. If Eliesse Ben Seghir and Lamine Camara were both nominated at the start, now only the Senegalese midfielder remains, present in the last three with two Ivorians — both winners of AFCON — Oumar Diakité and Karim Konaté.
Already honored last year, the current number 15 of AS Monaco is therefore in the race to make it back-to-back and imitate Achraf Hakimi, who did the same in in 2018 and 2019. Having arrived this summer in the Principality after having been the best Metz player last season, he has already played 17 matches, including six in the Champions League, and has already shown all his recovery skills alongside Denis Zakaria or Soungoutou Magassa.
This is without forgetting his contribution on the offensive side with two goals scored and as many assists, with the last one was coming during the last matchday of the league against Toulouse to Wilfried Singo on a perfectly taken free kick.
For all these reasons, the midfielder therefore has every chance of being the winner again, which will be revealed this Monday, during the “CAF Awards” ceremony, organized in Marrakech. Bravo Lamine! 👏
