LaLiga strugglers sack second longest serving head coach in the league

Cádiz CF have parted ways with Álvaro Cervera after nearly six years in charge of the club.

Only Diego Simeone had been in charge of a LaLiga club for longer.

Cádiz currently sit 19th in LaLiga, having won just twice all season.

Cervera led the club from the third tier of Spanish football all the way to LaLiga between taking over in April 2016 and the summer of 2020.

He then oversaw a 12th place finish last season, the club’s first in the top flight since 2005/06, but has paid the price for poor results this campaign.
