Laia Aleixandri returns to Barcelona | OneFootball

Laia Aleixandri has rejoined former club Barcelona after the expiry of her Manchester City contract.

The Spanish defender initially came through the Barça academy before making her breakthrough with Atlético de Madrid.

Manchester City signed Aleixandri in the summer of 2022 with the player going on to feature 87 times for the Citizens, scoring three times (including in the 2-2 Manchester derby draw at Old Trafford towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign) and assisting five.

Barcelona have now confirmed the arrival of the player who signs a contract until 2029. The Catalan side once again dominated domestically last season but ultimately lost the Champions League final to Arsenal back in May.

Aleixandri was one of City’s better performers in what was overall a disappointing season. No other player in the WSL made as many touches of the ball as the 24-year-old (1,777) while she also ranked second for progressive passes (156).
