According to a self-proclaimed Celtic transfer expert on Twitter, the club and Ange Postecoglou retain an interest in big Slovakian forward Ladislav Almási. The enormous centre-forward plays for FC Baník Ostrava in the Czech Republic, who coincidentally we play next week so we will be able to catch a glimpse of the player up close and in the flesh.

The account @SeanS1967 – which was also reported via Champions67.com – is claiming that the Bhoys are looking at the man who scored 16 goals in 32 appearances for his club in the Czech Fortuna Liga last season and helped them to a fifth place finish in the domestic table. Standing at 6ft 4in, the Slovakian is an imposing figure, and at just 23-years-old would have plenty of room for improvement.

The account also claims that Almàsi is in the mould of our very own Giorgos Giakoumakis who had a sensational first season at Celtic Park, managing to finish joint-top scorer in the cinch Premiership on 13 goals even with being out injured for a considerable amount of time. Ange is in the market for another striker so the links would make sense considering we will be playing his side too this pre-season – did the Greek-Aussie plan this one in advance?

Physicality is 100% something we are missing from the current Celtic team. We have bags of pace and technique but we seemed to be bullied in the Scottish Cup Semi-final against theRangers and then again at Parkhead on the last Glasgow Derby of the League campaign. Both of those matches saw us walk away without the maximum result possible and both could have been doing with a more physical profile in amongst the battle.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see that Ange is thinking along the exact same lines this pre-season but it might however just be another tall tale…

Here’s his best bits on You Tube…
