Jude Belligham’s impulsive outburst in Real Madrid’s clash against Getafe has been widely looked into by both English and Spanish media. It now appears the same could get him into trouble.

After tackling Mason Greenwood on the wing at Coliseum Alfonso Perez, the Real Madrid star was caught calling the Getafe star a ‘ra*ist’, and the same has been caught on video. The audio from the evidence, however, is not clear, prompting La Liga to engage other modalities to confirm Getafe’s suspicions.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the lip-reader on board to decode Bellingham’s words against Greenwood.

“After carefully analyzing the clip, I am 97 per cent sure that the word spoken is ‘ra*ist’, particularly if you consider the context in which it was used. The visual signals of the lips indicate the presence of the sounds ‘R’ and ‘P’, and the word seems to end abruptly,” the lip-reader Jeremy Freeman concluded.

He also concluded that considering the player’s accent and the clear lack of alternative interpretations, the accusation from Getafe is legitimate.

Bellingham is silent

The Real Madrid star’s words may have been harsh and unwarranted on the field. However, it was by no means an insult for he was only calling a spade a spade.

The Daily Mail have contacted the Real Madrid star’s entourage to gain his perspective on the matter and clarification regarding his words. Bellingham, however, has remained silent so far.

It remains to be seen if La Liga concurs with Freeman’s interpretation and imposes any sanction on Bellingham or Real Madrid for the incident. In any case, all focus in Madrid currently is towards the upcoming derby on Sunday night.
