There is a strong possibility that Real Madrid end up with as many as four left-backs in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid already have Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia in their ranks and are now working hard to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.

On top of that, there is a solid possibility that Miguel Gutierrez will end up back at the Santiago Bernabeu from Girona, courtesy of Los Blancos retaining a buyback clause.

Gutierrez very likely to return despite strong Premier League interest

Indeed, as per Jorge Picon, the likelihood of Miguel Gutierrez returning to Real Madrid from Girona is growing quite strong.

The Merengues sold the Spanish defender to Girona in 2022 but retained a buyback clause worth €8 million, which they are now expected to trigger.

Real Madrid are closely following Gutierrez’s development at Girona and have been impressed by how he has done at the Catalan club.

As such, the idea of bringing him back to the club is gaining momentum even though a final decision is yet to be made.

In case there is an overbooking in the left-back department, the idea of signing Gutierrez and loaning him back to Girona is not ruled out either.

The Spanish defender feels settled in Michel’s side, who could be playing Champions League football next term. As such, the possibility of re-signing him and loaning him back is not ruled out.

Gutierrez wants Real Madrid

Gutierrez, for his part, is eager to return to Real Madrid and has been waiting to learn the club’s stance on the situation.

In fact, the La Fabrica talent turned down several Premier League clubs in the winter and even though teams such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich are still keen, he is holding out for Madrid.

In fact, as per the report, the potential arrival of Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich is unlikely to deter Gutierrez either.

Should Gutierrez return and Davies also arrive, it would cast question marks over the future of Ferland Mendy, whose contract expires in 2025, as well as Fran Garcia.
