Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has broken his silence regarding the club’s interest in Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, who is eager to make a return to his former club.

Ceballos has made no secret of his desire to play for Betis again, but negotiations are proving complicated.

During the official presentation of Junior Firpo, Fajardo was asked about the club’s stance on bringing Ceballos back to Seville. While careful not to overstep any boundaries, he acknowledged Betis are closely watching the situation.

“Ceballos currently belongs to Real Madrid, and we must be respectful when talking about players with current contracts.

“We monitor all possible market situations. I can’t say much more. Our conscience is as clear as Dani Ceballos’s,” said Fajardo, choosing his words carefully.

Betis open to signing Ceballos

He further clarified Betis’ transfer policy, pointing out that while the club remains open to bringing back former players, they won’t make financially reckless moves.

“Betis doesn’t close the door to any player, much less those who have been in this club. But players have to fit within certain parameters.

“Dani had his chance two years ago when the negotiations were between two parties. Now it’s between three parties, and Betis isn’t going to pay any big transfer fee.”

At the moment, Betis have put €5 million on the table for Ceballos, but Real Madrid are demanding €15 million to sanction his departure. This difference in valuation is the main obstacle preventing the deal from moving forward.

Ceballos wants Betis

Meanwhile, it must be remembered that Ceballos himself has made it clear where his heart lies. Just a few days ago, he spoke publicly about his desire to return to Betis.

“Betis is my home and it always will be. I hope the door stays open forever. We will talk about the future after this week. There have not been any meetings yet,” said the midfielder, leaving the door wide open for negotiations.

For now, the ball is in Real Madrid’s court, but Betis are making it clear that they won’t break their financial model to make the deal happen.
