La Liga club considering Real Madrid legend to replace their head-coach

Despite their strong start to the season, Real Madrid Castilla has been unable to get the required results for the last few weeks. Raul’s team has lost four of its last five matches in the Primera Federacion, and, as already reported, there is a possibility of it losing its place in the third-tier Spanish competition.

Raul started his coaching career with the Real Madrid subsidiary in a good fashion and has impressed at times during his five years with the B team. He has even been a candidate to replace Carlo Ancelotti with the first team, but this string of recent results can cause interest in him to dwindle.

However, this is not exactly the case right now, as Mundo Deportivo reports that he is one of the options being considered by Sevilla for their first team’s head coach.

Thus, Raul can replace Quique Sanches Flores, whose continuity at the club is not assured, even though he has been successful in ensuring the team does not get relegated from La Liga.

Sevilla already had their eyes on Raul when they were looking to replace Jose Luis Mendilibar, but ultimately, Diego Alonso was appointed at that time. Now, as the Andalusians look to once again upgrade their coaching position, Raul’s name is again under consideration.

However, the former Real Madrid striker will be facing competition from other high-profile names like Jagoba Arrasate and Enzo Maresca for this position.

Meanwhile, Quique Sanches Flores’ continuity at the club can also not be fully ruled out. The current Sevilla coach still has one year remaining on his contract, but the Andalusian club can terminate it under a penalty clause in this contract.

The club’s brass still enjoys good relations with Flores, but he has not been able to incorporate the reinforcements that Sevilla brought in the last winter window.

Thus, his future at the Andalusian club is far from certain, and this situation can provide Raul with an exciting project to lead, especially as he seems to be stagnating after five years at Castilla.
