LA Galaxy are gearing up for the final match of the regular season with an eye on the playoffs, and all eyes are on Marco Reus as he makes his anticipated return.
After suffering an injury in the 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps on September 21, Marco Reus has been sidelined for a few crucial weeks.
However, according to coach Greg Vanney, the German midfielder is expected to receive appropriate minutes in the upcoming match against Houston Dynamo, as the team carefully manages his recovery.
His presence brought a new dynamic to the Galaxy's attacking lineup, which helped solidify their top position in the Western Conference. However, his absence since late September has raised questions about his availability as the team heads into the MLS Cup Playoffs.
As reported by AS, Vanney has been cautious with Reus's recovery, not wanting to rush the 35-year-old back into action prematurely.
His primary focus has been on ensuring the player’s fitness for the high-stakes postseason, where every match could determine the Galaxy’s fate.
With the playoffs looming, it’s essential that Reus gets some game time before the knockout rounds, but his return will be closely monitored to prevent any setbacks. For the microphones, the coach revealed:
"He has made good progress this week, so I believe, hopefully, he’ll be ready to play."
Vanney emphasized the importance of gradually reintegrating Reus into the team, noting that while the player has made good progress, reaching full match speed is the final hurdle.
The coaching staff will evaluate his condition closely before the game, ensuring that he’s ready for the intensity of MLS competition without compromising his recovery.
His presence on the field could be a significant factor in the team's postseason success, but for now, the priority is securing the final regular-season win and heading into the playoffs with confidence and health.
